As her teacher Lauren Burnley smiles, a student beams as she sports her new backpack filled with school supplies from Philly Tools for School.

Continuing an extraordinary commitment to young learners at Children’s Village, Philly Tools for School recently donated 75 backpacks chock-full of school supplies.  Philly Tools for School is ensuring that our School-Age Program (k-7th) students start the year with tools for success; each of the new backpacks is filled with school supplies, targeted to each grade level.  Children’s Village students are among the 640 children throughout Philadelphia this year to benefit from Philly Tools for School’s generosity and concern.  Other out-of-school time programs also receiving backpacks include: The Free Library of Philadelphia; Salvation Army;  and Southwark and Fell Elementary Schools.

Philly Tools for School’s founder Barbara Fishbein is a wonderful, longtime friend of Children’s Village.  I cannot overstate just how meaningful this donation is both to our students and their families,  many of whom face incredible financial challenges.  We are grateful that Barbara shares our belief that every child deserves a high-quality learning environment.  Through Barbara’s volunteer efforts, she is equipping students with tools needed to arrive in the classroom on day one ready to learn.  Together, we are helping children succeed in school and in life,” says Mary Graham, Executive Director.

Philly Tools for School is an all-volunteer 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.
