We Collaborate With Other Advocates To:
Strengthen regulations governing early learning centers
Every child deserves an environment that promotes learning. Teachers’ levels of education and their experience, low child-adult ratios, curriculum standards, and health and safety procedures are among the factors impacting effectiveness. Children’s Village sets the bar high — and we advocate for other early care and education providers to do the same.
Ensure full funding for quality programs
Every family deserves the opportunity to enroll their child in a quality program that is affordable. Increasing access to such programs requires resources. We advocate for the fair sharing of resources among government, businesses, and families.
Advocacy Is Everyone’s Role At Children’s Village
From families to teachers to members of the Board of Directors, advocacy is everyone’s role. In fact, Children’s Village’s most recent Strategic Plan includes as a key goal continued advocacy.
Setting the Example
Throughout her 40+-year career in early childhood education, Executive Director Mary Graham has been recognized for her effective public policy and advocacy work. She continues to testify before legislators to inform policy, lead workshops, serve on regional and national expert panels, and serve in leadership positions on boards of advocacy and other community organizations. Most recently, Mary was awarded PennAEYC’s 2015 VOICE for Children Distinguished Career Award. For more information, please visit PennAEYC.org.
Children’s Village encourages Pennsylvania early learning education centers to embrace best practices, participate in Keystone STARS, and seek national accreditation. A Keystone STARS 4A program, Children’s Village serves as a site for technical assistance for programs seeking to improve their quality rating.

Lead and participate in coalitions to enlist public support of early childhood education.
Mobilize grassroots campaigns to speak in a collective, clear, and amplified voice about early childhood education issues.
Influence policy decisions by informing our legislators and the governor on issues that impact children and families.
Participate at Early Childhood Action Day.
Brief local and state officials on policies to expand access to quality early childhood education.
Encourage individuals to vote.
