ADVOCACY ACTION ALERT-Sign on and stand behind the principles of DAP

Raise Your Voice in Support of NAEYC’s Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) Book

Children’s Village deeply respects the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) – the benchmark of early learning excellence – and fully embraces the bedrock principles of NAEYC’s Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) Book, 4th edition.

Dr. Barbara Cooper, one of NAEYC’s Governing Board members, was forced out of her state leadership position in Alabama over the use of DAP

Important Highlights relating to DAP

•Developmentally appropriate practices are time-tested, research-based approaches to teaching young children, created by and for early childhood educators to support the success of all children.
• Dragging early childhood into the culture wars only hurts families by causing stress for educators whose focus should be on children.
• Undermining educators’ ability to do their jobs also puts at risk the thousands of small businesses and non-profit programs like Children’s Village that provide high-quality, age-appropriate care and learning for young children and families who need it.

As reflected in our Core Values, we are fervent in our belief that every child has the right to equitable learning opportunities and unrelenting in our efforts to advance equity to ensure every child thrives.

We will continue to stand up for and support all children, families, and educators. We encourage you to join us!
