Children's Village Achieves National Accreditation with Near-Perfect Scores!

A student plays a set of drums created from loose parts!

Children's Village has again earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the world's largest organization working on behalf of young children. NAEYC accreditation is the benchmark of early learning excellence and we achieved the distinction with flying colors! In fact, several of the classroom and program portfolios we created for the accreditation process earned exceptional scores and NAEYC has selected them to share with other programs pursuing accreditation.

Children's Village voluntarily undergoes NAEYC's rigorous quality-improvement system every five years. The process uses a set of 10 research-based standards, hundreds of corresponding individual criteria, and a two-day on-site assessment. Less than 10 percent of all child care centers, preschools, and kindergartens nationally achieve NAEYC accreditation. Children's Village has achieved this distinction continuously since 1996.

Reflecting the Dedication of the Children's Village Community

"NAEYC accreditation underscores the commitment of Children's Village's teachers, staff, families, and Board of Directors," says Mary Graham, Executive Director, Children's Village. "This designation is especially meaningful given the pandemic's incredible challenges. Children's Village never lost sight of the need to provide a safe, high-quality learning program for children and an engaging, welcoming environment for families," says Ms. Graham.

Sharing This Honor with You

Children's Village could not achieve this distinction without your support! Individuals, corporations, foundations, and child care advocates contribute immensely to our work. Quality requires resources. Parent fees and public subsidies do not cover the cost of our comprehensive program. "We hope you -- our friends, donors, and advocates -- share our pride in this accomplishment; we could not have attained it without you," says Ms. Graham.

Ensuring Every Child Benefits from High-Quality Early Education

Children's Village is committed to ensuring all children have access to early learning excellence. We serve many students whose circumstances, including learning English and living in low-income households, can undercut their potential. "Every child deserves a high-quality early learning environment during the most critical stage of development. NAEYC accreditation affirms our dedication to the highest standards. We know what takes place in our classrooms makes an impact that is lasting and life-changing,” says Ms. Graham.
