Children’s Village’s Mary Graham moderated an October 23 virtual press conference hosted by Start Strong PA through which child care providers detailed the significant financial losses driven by state policy changes.  The changes relate to attendance-based instead of enrollment-based reimbursement.

A sampling of 56 child care centers in the region shows a loss of $1,452,052 in state funding in September alone, undercutting providers’ ability to meet the needs of children and families. Edith Whitmore, one of our dedicated teachers who is a parent of 3 children in child care, also shared her perspective.
